In 2001 KTTC in collaboration with the Flemish Association for Development Corporation and Technical Assistance (VVOB) started a higher diploma course in technical teacher education. This course mainly aimed at equipping technical teachers with managerial skills so that they could serve effectively in various administrative capacities in educational institutions. Initially the course was offered under education department but later in 2004, the ICT Integration and Open Learning Department was established and the HDDTE course moved there. The course was taken back to Education department.
The department has since changed to ICT services department which is now a full service department charged with integration of ICT in the teaching and learning process. To facilitate the use of the new approach, an ICT center equipped with a learning resource Centre (LRC) and networked computer labs were established. The LRC consists of a documentation centre, a cyber and a Training Room equipped with interactive smart boards.
